UBS Hires HSBC Head in Qatar

UBS will be targeting Qatar as a second Middle East hub and has hired Tarek Eido as Managing Director and Head of Qatar Wealth Management from March 2021, reporting to Ali Janoudi, Group Managing Director, Head of Wealth Management Middle East & Africa

Tarek has over 15 years’ experience in the MENA wealth management space, and most recently oversaw the Qatar, Kuwait and Lebanon markets for HSBC based in Doha. Earlier in his career Tarek worked for the International Bank of Qatar and the National Bank of Kuwait

In November 2020 UBS CEO Ralph Hamers and Chairman Axel Weber signed a memorandum of understanding with Qatar’s Investment Promotion Agency and Minister of Commerce and Industry Ali Al Kuwari helping to establish its Wealth Management unit in the country
