- Our client is seeking to add a Director to their FICC Sales team in London, with a focus on Emerging & Frontier Markets
- The ideal candidate should have 10+ years of experience in selling fixed income products to institutional clients as part of an international investment bank


  • A passion for Emerging markets and Africa content
  • A high contributor with ambition to be a product coverage specialist and not necessarily to lead large teams or manage a larger business but to rather focus deeply on the top Institutional global clients covering them with the purpose of the broader sales
  • Technical knowledge of the above products
  • Able to work with a local sales team who intensely cover local and international institutional client’s intra-day based on the opportunity to closing transactions
  • Fluency in English is a must


  • Initiating, building and maintaining relationship with top International clients wanting to trade African product as defined
  • Being the primary international person-to-person contact for these clients in ensuring secondary market trading activity is working to the client’s satisfaction
  • Spend 80% of his/her productive time seeing existing clients in person
  • Originating new clients, being the go-to person for the client to express his non-deal specific concerns or questions. They need to be multi skilled in all markets product - structured and flow and help the sales team capture the client’s full wallet
  • Ensure the relationship at a CIO, PM, head of execution desk and COO responsibility, at the offshore institutional client, are strong and the bank’s brand and all its geographic capabilities and products are well received and understood
  • Working to ensure successful ‘product push’ of secondary markets product
  • Working with local research, sales teams and international clients to ensure road-shows and other visits to solicit business can be done efficiently
  • Having a compliance approved knowledge of the primary markets business interaction with the clients to ensure the banks relationship with the client is well maintained and managed
  • Working with a similar colleague, covering these clients, having a specialist knowledge in Equities
  • Exposing FIC and Macro research that has been published and providing insights to business heads for future improvements
  • In exceptional circumstances this person may be required to be wall crossed where specific deals require their assistance
  • Work with local trading and local sales, local syndicate, and local loan sales gain momentum behind their ‘product push’ initiatives
  • Be a local European expert specialist in understanding the practical interpretation and operational requirements of local legislation, codes of conduct, and reporting requirements
  • Provide strategic input into how best to accomplish that through time and on average we create a portfolio of positive returns per client and forge strong partnerships for both Primary and secondary product
  • Identifying new clients and strategic relationships with other European banks that require an Africa specific partner or relationship and assisting with making the necessary connections in the bank and assisting with the necessary on-boarding challenges
